The God I Never Knew
Today’s message is about the character of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17, John 14:25-26
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 16:7-12
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
The Bible never refers to the Holy Spirit as “it”, because “He” is not an “it.” If you don’t see Him as a person, then you won’t develop a personal relationship with Him. He is the third person of the Trinity.
1. He’s My Helper (John 16:8-11)
A. He helps convict the world of sin so they will believe in Jesus.
B. He helps convict/convince the world that because you have
believed in Jesus you are in right standing with God.
C. He helps convince you that Satan’s authority
power over you has been taken away.
2. He’s My Friend, and He’s Not Weird!
You can be a normal person and believe in the Person and the Power
of the Holy Spirit!
3. He’s My God
The Holy Spirt is as much God as the Father or the Son.
The Holy Spirit is not weird.
He is a wonderful Person and He wants to get to know you better!
