When it comes to fear, many people believe that it is all bad. There is one fear that we should have and that is the fear of God.
People say, “Yeah, I grew up in a church that preached hellfire and brimstone and it kind of damaged me.” But, today, the pendulum has swung so far the other way that all we talk about is grace, mercy, and love.
The Bible says we need a healthy balance between the fear of God and the love of God.
The fear of God is the 24/7, 360 degree awareness that everything we do, say, and think is in front of a holy and just and magnetic God, who sees everything we do and who judges everything we do.
We begin a relationship with God because of the fear of God first, then we experience His love.
Christians have casualized God so much, we have lost our fear of Him.
The fear of God and the consequences of our sin is a proper motivator for living a holy life. The fear of God and the love of God produce a perfect balance in our lives.
A lack of the fear of God effects every area of your Christian life in a negative way. Let’s “amp up” our fear of God!
