Target: Every person is either on their way to a storm, coming out of a storm, or are in the middle of a storm.
The Problem: When storms in life hit, we find ourselves putting our trust in the wrong people and places.

On your way to the other side remember:
1. The Directive given from Jesus.

“When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum.
John 6:16-17 ESV
Cross ref: “Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.” Matthew 14:22 ESV

2. The Darkness doesn’t mean he’s not active.

“It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.” John 6:17b ESV
Cross ref: “And after he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” Matthew 14: 23 ESV
Jesus is our advocate and our intercessor.
1 John 2:1 ESV // Hebrews 7:25 ESV

3. The Depletion felt as a disciple:

“And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.”
Mark 6:48a ESV
Even when we can’t see him, he sees and is aware of us.
“Fourth watch” = Between 3am – 6am.

4. The Dominion expressed from Jesus.

“When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat…”
John 6:19a ESV
Cross ref: “…his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” Daniel 7:14b ESV

5. The Delight of receiving Jesus into your life.

“But he said to them, ‘It is I; do not be afraid.’ Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.” John 6:20-21 ESV
No need to hide! Psalm 32:5, Proverbs 28:13, James 5:16.
The voice of condemnation:
Satan vs. the voice of comfort: Jesus

6. The Dough in your boat!

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.” John 6:12-13 NIV
Cross ref: “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?” Psalm 77:11-13 ESV

Take Away: Sometimes you have to remember where God has brought you from, so that you’ll be reminded that he’s powerful enough to get you where you need to go.
