Honoring Our Two Fathers

Calvary Grace Assembly of God

==========
Honoring Our Two Fathers
The Bible tells us to honor our father. We all have two fathers—an earthly father
and a heavenly Father. Fathers provide protection, provision, affection, training,
and guidance. Even if your earthly father had shortcomings, your heavenly
Father is perfect.

Reasons Why We Honor our Fathers:

1.THE BIBLE COMMANDS US TO HONOR OUR FATHERS.

2.IT MEETS OUR FATHERS’ DEEPEST NEED AND MOTIVATES THEM TO DO WELL.

3.IT HONORS THE GOD-ORDAINED INSTITUTION OF FATHERHOOD IN SOCIETY.

Four Facts About Our Fathers

1. WE ALL HAVE TWO FATHERS—AN EARTHLY AND A HEAVENLY.

2.OUR TWO FATHERS WERE DESIGNED TO OPERATE AS A TEAM.

3. OUR CONCEPT OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS MOSTLY DERIVED BY OUR EARTHLY FATHER.

Five Important Roles of Fathers that Build Our Concept of God
1. Protection4. Training
2. Provision5. Guidance
3. Nurture/Affection

4. OUR EARTHLY FATHERS ARE IMPERFECT, AND OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS PERFECT.

HOW TO HONOR BOTH OF OUR FATHERS ON FATHER’S DAY AND EVERY DAY

1. Honor your earthly father by remembering what he did right and thanking him for it.

2. Honor your earthly father by giving him grace for his shortcomings and imperfections.

3. Honor your heavenly Father by believing in His love and putting your faith in Him.

4. Honor your heavenly Father by being the best father you can be and bear God’s image to your children.

Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

1 Peter 3:1-3
Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
