LOVE REIGNS

1 Corinthians 13:13Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

•Love is the antidote to hate and anger.

1 .LOVE CAME FIRST.

John 3:16-17 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

2. FAITH AND HOPE ARE FUELED BY LOVE.

1 John 4:18
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Galatians 5:6 (TPT)
. . . faith that is activated and brought to perfection by love.

Mark 12:28-31
One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.
30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’
31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

3. LOVE IS SUPREME.

•“Love is the ultimate and the highest goal to which man can aspire. The salvation of man is through love and in love.” (Victor Frankl)

4 .LOVE IS THE MEANING AND PURPOSE OF LIFE.

5. THE ONLY WAY TO GIVE LOVE IS TO KNOW LOVE.

1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

•Love God SPIRITUALLY with all your heart.
•Love God emotionally with all your soul.
•Love God MENTALLY with all your mind.
•Love God PHYSICALLY with all your strength.

6. THE PRIMARY WAY TO GET MORE LOVE IS TO GIVE LOVE.

1 John 4:19-21
19 We love each other because he loved us first.
20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
21 And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

Luke 6:35-38
“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.
36 You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.
38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

John 13:34-35
“So now I am giving you a NEW commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

7. LOVE FULFILLS THE ENTIRE LAW.

Romans 13:9-10
For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

2 John 1:6 (NCV)
And love means living the way God commanded us to live. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is this: Live a life of love.

Romans 13:8-10
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
9 For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
