1. THE LORD’S SUPPER INVOLVES CAREFUL PREPARATION
Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new
unleavened batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:7-8
2. THE LORD’S SUPPER REQUIRES SELF- EXAMINATION
Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.
1 Corinthians 11:28
3. THE LORD’S SUPPER SYMBOLIZES A POWERFUL REPRESENTATION
The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it
and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after supper
he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in
remembrance of me.’ 1 Corinthians 11:23-25
4. THE LORD’S SUPPER PRODUCES JOYFUL ANTICIPATION
Truly I tell you, ‘I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.’ Mark 14:25
