David was such a colorful character. More is said about him than any other character in the Old Testament. David was a shepherd boy, a musician and poet, a warrior, a king and much more. David is the only man to be called “a man after God’s own heart.” Looking at David’s story, the real message is not the greatness of David but the greatness and love of God, who gave David a second chance.

People who live their lives for God, who are obedient and submissive to His Word, and are grounded in the community of the church, are among the happiest, balanced, most content, and vigorous in this life.
In our text, King Saul had everything: wealth, the palace, kingship, but he wasn’t content with what he had. He wanted more and he wanted to do it his own way instead of God’s way.
HOW DO WE CONTEND WITH DISCONTENTMENT?
1. PRACTICE CONTENTMENT.
Practice will not make you perfect but practicing contentment will make you happy and satisfied.
2. CELEBRATE THE SUCCESS OF OTHERS.
1. We need each other to succeed.
2. It motivates you to strive for your own personal
success.
3. You care about the person and want to maintain
your bond.
3. REJOICE, ALWAYS!
Thanksgiving arises out of a longing for joy!
