The book of Revelation contains seven letters of encouragement, correction, and instruction for seven churches in Asia Minor. While these seven letters were penned by the Apostle John thousands of years ago, the message is directly from Jesus and is for every generation.
All seven of the letters have four main parts:
· Commendation – this is what you’re doing well.
· Correction – this is what you need to change.
· Counsel – this is how you need to change.
· Crown – this is the reward for overcoming the needed change.
The first letter in Revelation 2:1-7 is addressed to the church at Ephesus where Timothy was the pastor. They had left their first love.
Three ways to restore your first love for God:
1. WORSHIP
2. WORD
3. WITNESS
When you first fall in love with Jesus:
1. You want to spend time with Him. (Worship & Word)
2. You want to talk about Him. (Witness)
That’s how you return to your first love. It’s that simple!
