How did you respond when you were provoked by someone?

Two general responses:
1.External – let them know your feelings
2.Internal – mentally write them off

What if you could be prepared to respond with patience when you’re provoked?
Responding with patience when you’re provoked shows gratitude to God and love for one another.
Developing a Plan for Patience:

1. RECEIVE THE PATIENT LOVE OF GOD.

2. RESOLVE CONFLICT BY TALKING TO THE PERSON, NOT ABOUT THEM.

Should I confront someone to resolve conflict?
Is it a sin against me?
Is it a pattern?
Was trust broken?
Do I value the relationship?

3. RELEASE THE RECORD OF WRONG.
1 Peter 4:8Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.
Follow this plan and it will lead you to a greater level of patience. That kind of patience will get the world’s attention.

Ephesians 4:1-3 NLT

1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Ephesians 3:16-21 NLT

16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Matthew 18:15-16 NLT

15 “If another believer#18:15a Greek If your brother. sins against you,#18:15b Some manuscripts do not include against you. go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. 16 But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses.

Proverbs 16:28 NLT

28 A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.

1 Peter 4:8 NLT

8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.
