Doing Any Water-Walkin’ This Summer

Only two people have ever walked on water – Jesus and Peter.

In the fourth chapter of John, Jesus referred to Himself as the ‘Living Water’ … He gives life and gives it freely. John 4:14 states, “Whoever drinks this water will never thirst again.”

WALKING ON WATER – the ‘Living Water’ of Jesus – means to fully put your faith in God IN ANY SITUATION He’s calling you. Faith is taking the first step before God reveals the second step.

3 Elements of Walking on Water

1. WALKING ON WATER will always feel crazy and even scary. It will even come off absurd to others, especially those closest to you.

Keep in mind, Peter was the ONLY disciple in the boat that walked on water with Jesus. The other disciples had to think Peter was off his rocker when he stepped off the side of the boat onto the water.

Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 14:27, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

2. WALKING ON WATER will require you to take action just like Peter.

In Matthew 14:29, Jesus simply said “’Come,’ Jesus said. Then Peter GOT DOWN OUT OF THE BOAT, walked on water and came toward Jesus.”

3. WALKING ON WATER is not just for that moment God is calling you out of your boat. The Lord is actually setting you up for something GREATER down the road of your life.

For Peter, it was Acts chapter 2 – when he led the New Testament church on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all those praying in the upper room. About 3,000 people were added to the family of God that day.

Acts chapter 2 would not have happened with Peter ascending into leadership on the Day of Pentecost had he not experienced his WALKING ON WATER in Matthew chapter 14.

Is God calling YOU to a WALK-ON-WATER moment? Are you willing to step out of the boat?
