A Praying Church: The Spirit Intercedes

In our current culture the church and prayer are often dismissed as irrelevant. But when believers gather and pray together, powerful things happen: the Spirit equips the saints for ministry, the helpless are met with help, and believers experience the joy of being led by the Spirit of Jesus. In this Sunday morning message series, we will cast a vision for a return to the simple, yet life-changing practice of praying together. Through personal stories and biblical examples, Pastor Tom Cogle will teach the why, what, and how of praying together. We will learn how praying with other Christians can transform their communities into beacons of hope.

John Wesley once said,

“God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”

Three reasons our prayers are hindered:

1. Failure to pray

2. Ignorance about prayer

3. Inability to know what to ask for according to his will.

How can we know how to pray according to the father’s will?

That’s where the Holy Spirit comes into play.

The Holy Spirit takes our prayers and adapts our prayers according to the will of the father.

The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.

1. Because of our limited human nature.

2. Because we’re sick sometimes.

3. Because of adversity.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit takes over when we have no words to express our prayers.

Be encouraged that you’re not expected to know the will of God in every respect.

Ephesians 6:18 NLT

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
