We need to take a stand in our culture for what we know is right. The Old Testament prophet Elijah shows us how to have the power to take a stand. The Book of James says Elijah was human just like we are. That means we can have the courage to take a stand just like Elijah did. King Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the false prophets to Mount Carmel. This is gonna be the showdown between the false gods and the one true God.
Elijah’s big question to them was, “how much longer will you waiver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!”
The people wanted to serve the Lord and their false gods because of the benefits.
Can we still worship idols today? Yes!
An idol is anyone or anything that takes the place of God in our lives.
Anything that we’re more passionate about other than God has become an idol in our lives.
Examples of idols can be: pleasure, fame, possessions, or money.
Exodus 20:3
“You must not have any other god but me.”
Sometimes we have enough of the world to be miserable and God. And we have enough of God to be miserable in the world.
Let me encourage you to get out of that spiritual “no man’s land.” The Lord He is God: so, serve Him with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength!
