PASSOVER TO PENTECOST – Waiting for the Promise

The weeks between Passover and Pentecost seem less familiar than the first few days after Jesus’ death. We know that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and three days later rose from the dead. But what about after that? What about the times Jesus appeared to His disciples during His 40 days on earth and the coming of the Holy Spirit? What do these days mean for Christ-followers today? This is a new series that will walk us through the Scriptures and 50 days that changed the world. After Jesus resurrection He was on the earth for 40 days. Then the disciples were in the upper room fasting and praying and seeking God for 10 days. And then Pentecost came! Sunday June the 5th is Pentecost Sunday and so this whole series of messages is guiding us toward Pentecost Sunday and we’re going to believe God for a mighty outpouring of his Holy Spirit.

Why does God make us wait for the promise?

1. WHERE DID THEY WAIT?

They waited in the temple and in the house.

In order to see God’s promise fulfilled in your life you need to wait in a relationship with God and in a relationship with God’s people.

2. HOW DID THEY WAIT?

They waited in fervent prayer.

Passionate, fervent prayer is how you release the burden and give it to God.

3. WHY DID THEY WAIT?

When God makes you wait, He certainly is building your faith, but more than that He’s building your relationship with Him!

God does not have a watch, but He is never late!

Acts 2:39 NKJV

For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.
